About PASK Danes...

Peggy Ann Smith, PASK Danes

I have been involved in exhibiting, breeding and handling Great Danes for the past seven years.  I purchased my first Dane and show dog from Joan Wolke, Wolke Danes, which was the beginning of my life with Danes.

PASK Danes first litter, co-bred by Joan Wolke, out of  Am/Int'l/Nat'l Champion Wolke's Unforgettable "Maggee" bred to CH. Lagarada's Strike N Gold v. Hauer "Stryker" which gave us 5 beautiful fawn girls and 2 handsome boys on June 23, 2001. The Litter was deemed "The Financial Endeavor".   From that litter we have 5 pointed littermates, 3 AKC Champions, and 1 Best in Specialty Show title.  Maggee is now a grandmother with 3 grand kids on their way to their titles.

My first boy and my first brindle dane, Am/Int'l Champion Wolke's Living Legend "Trucker" is the love of my life and is a complete joy.  Trucker has an outstanding temperament, and completed his AKC and International Titles completely owner handled.  He took a BOB and a Group 4 at 14 months old over Top 20 Specials, and finished his AKC title at 21 months of age with back to back 4 point majors.  He has gone on to many other accomplishments including siring two litters by Int'l CH. Anadane's Shelby by the Shore and a litter out of BISS CH. Roxane Alexana Tresigor-Piche .  Trucker is now retired from the show ring and is proud of his grand daughters who are on their way to their titles.  I have a limited amount of frozen semen available to approved bitches.

The "baby phatty" and the most spoiled member of the family is CH. Wolke's Power Play v PASK "Player".  Player is out of Maggee and Stryker and finished his AKC title in 6 months handled by Dick Schaefer.  He was a Breed and Group Placing Competitor his first weekend as a special. Player is now retired and enjoying life as a couch potato when he's not playing with his sister Charm and his niece Lula.

After joining the Great Dane Club of California in 2000, I took over as Chairman for the Ways and Means Committee raising a significant amount of money my first year for the club.  Since then, I've served as Corresponding Secretary for the club (01-03),  Board of Directors (03-04) and am the Publicity Chairman as well as the Chairman and Founder of the Web Site Committee.

I am also a member of the Great Dane Club of America (GDCA) and have attended six National Specialties.  I have completed Judges Education at two National Specialties, once under respected breeder judge Dale Tarbox and once under respected breeder/handler judge Judy Harrington.  At the 2005 National Specialty I was Welcome Bag Chairman and the Media Chairman.

I've judged two puppy matches and enjoyed doing both.  In October 2001 I had the honor of judging the Great Dane Club of Las Vegas's Puppy Match.  There were many beautiful Danes at the match and I enjoyed their always gracious hospitality. Click HERE to see photos from the match.  In April of 2004 I judged the Great Dane Club of California's Spring puppy match.  Again, there were many beautiful Danes shown.  Congratulations to the breeders and owners for the quality of Great Danes in the ring.

I co-own many beautiful Danes and have AKC titled fawns, brindles, and blacks. I co-own and occassionally breed danes with Colette Raasch, Colra Danes including a champion black dog, Int'l / Nat'l & Am CH Colra's An Ace in the Hole v PASK "Ace" and his sister Colra's All that Glitrz isn't Gold "Ebony" who is the dam of a beautiful black and fawn litter of pups lighting up the ring.  I also breed and co-own fawns and brindles with Jackie Kap - Offshore Danes, Beverly Evans - Von Evan Danes, and Susan Richards - Annadane Kennels, Reg. under our new kennel name of PBJS Danes

I follow the breeder's code of ethics set forth by the GDCA and complete a variety of health testing on my Danes prior to breeding.  My new puppy homes are screen extensively to ensure they will have the life time homes. It is important to me that my puppy owners stay in contact with me and ask questions.  I have an extensive network of dane breeders, handlers, and judges with many years in the breed that I rely on for advice.

Those that I'm fortunate to have in my life include Carol Grossman, my handling mentor; Dick & Cathy Schaefer, my kids "home away from home"; Anne Toomey, Warwick; Mort and Beverly Evans, Von Evans, who I've known since the beginning of "dane time"; and Pamela Winter, Winstar; who is my heart and my sanity.

Please enjoy our site and please feel free to email me with any questions!!
